In the world of mobile phones, the Finnish company Nokia is the king. Finnish ice condition, top in the world does not seem the likeliest place for electronic innovation, but a company with humble beginnings into the largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world. Travel for Nokia to become the leader in this race is one seems impossible, but it was one of the world’s biggest success stories.

In 1865, a former mining engineer, Knut Fredrik Idestam, establishing a pulp mill in the rapids Tammerkoski in southern Finland. His intention is to produce an advanced form of paper entering Germany to Finland. It was a success, so Idestam opened a second plant near the river Nokianvirta, the name of the new company inspired: Nokia Wood Mills. The name “Nokia” itself is a local term for small furry animals of the Mustelidae.
